Turns out all of Tiegen’s frantic tweeting about banana bread wasn’t just any old craving — it was a craving that’s heading into her second cookbook. Since she took the Twitterverse along for the ride while testing this recipe, she decided to share it before the launch of #cravings2, as she’s been referring to the book on social media.
We’re big fans of banana bread at Delish (59 and counting!), but our go-to is this chocolate chip and walnut version. Tiegen’s calls for a lot more eggs and vanilla pudding mix, which’ll make the bread super rich and moist.
Try them both and tell us what you think!

If you’re a frequent banana bread baker, you’ll understand the Twitter rampage Chrissy Teigen went on yesterday. Nothing’s worse than the crushing defeat when you go to make a loaf and find you don’t have any ripe bananas. So when Teigen discovered herself in exactly that situation, she didn’t just save the baking for another night. She crowdsourced some bananas. The journey was a roller coaster — but it’s worth reliving.
It all started on Sept. 17, when Teigen asked the Twitterverse if she could make a questionable trade in a house of worship. “If I bring 4 perfect bananas to the thai temple today can I take 4 brown bananas from the mini Buddha house offerings? Making banana bread, ” she tweeted. It seemed like one of her regular, innocuous quips. Who know the madness that would follow.

A follow-up tweet revealed her mom was on board, but three days later, she wrote, “ok this banana thing is getting ridiculous. don’t tell me your banana browning hacks. just…if u have 6 BROWN bananas in the LA area lmk.”
Then the search ratcheted up a notch, and it got kinda weird. Teigen posted another tweet saying, “if u have 6 BROWN bananas in the LA area, I will send my assistant to your home with a signed cookbook, John’s underwear and a Becca palette.”
The frauds came out to play, because this is the internet, after all. So Teigen tweeted, “SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY. please send me a photo of u holding the banana, giving the peace sign.”

A Vine star named Jake — known on Twitter as @onairjake — came through with three spotty ‘nanners, but Teigen knew there was still a long ways to go. “ok and @onairjake has 2….WE NEED ONE MORE! or, a single person with 6. this is gonna be a long day,” she wrote.
