LONGBOAT KEY, FL (WWSB) – The death of a woman found in a sauna on Longboat Key is still a mystery after autopsy results were “inconclusive.”
On Jan. 23, detectives with the Longboat Key Police Department began investigating the death of a 54-year-old woman found in the sauna at Longboat Key moorings Harbourside Clubhouse.
The death was initially ruled an unattended death pending an autopsy.
According to Longboat Key Police Cheif Peter Cumming, the autopsy has come back as “inconclusive” in determining the cause of death.
In an interview with ABC 7, Cheif Cumming said that the investigation is being treated as a possible homicide and that natural causes and accidental death have been ruled out.
The autopsy revealed trauma to the body of the victim, but, it is not clear if the injuries were self-inflicted or inflicted by an outside party.
At this time the victim’s identity has not been released.
